We all love to get an extra burst of energy from an energy drink,
but what about the side effects later? Should we really be putting
this into our body?
The ingredients associated with the energy drinks often have side
effects. For example, many of them have caffeine in large quantities.
Large amounts of caffeine can cause heart palpitations, nausea,
uncontrollable nervousness and irritability. Withdrawals from
caffeine can be just as adverse consisting of headaches, nausea and
extreme fatigue and exhaustion. Some of the products contain ginkgo
biloba. In large doses this can cause things such as nausea, vomiting
and heart palpitations along with headaches and some dizziness or
disorientation.
There are also a number of these energy products that contain the
artificial sweeteners which are in the midst of debate currently over
their safety for consumption. Ginseng, used in many of the products
can also cause nausea, diarrhea dramatic change in blood pressure
either up or down, possible nose bleeds and occasionally headaches.
Many of them contain large amounts of vitamin B. Vitamin B in large
enough quantities can cause health issues such as nerve toxicity,
which is essentially poisoning of the nerves.
Taking all this information into account is very important when you
are deciding whether or not to ingest in one of the many energy drink
products available on the market. If you still decide that you are
going to partake in the new fad of energy drinks, read the
ingredients. Know what the ingredients purpose is and what the
effects can be on your body before you drink it. There are a number
of new products on the market that claim they are all natural, but all
natural does not necessarily mean they are safe in the intense
quantities that they are used in these energy drinks.
Additionally, if you do partake in energy drinks, do so carefully
and perhaps consider not using these helpers on a very regular basis.
Perhaps it is a matter of everything in moderation in these cases. Be
aware of the side effects and choose your poison carefully as the
saying goes. You do not want to have a bad reaction to your high
energy level.
