Pravastatin side effects
Like any other drugs, Pravastatin also has its own side effects. According to World health Organization there are 7.9 deaths per year due to coronary heart disease, strokes and heart attacks. In order to lower the cholesterol level of blood, this drug is used. There are good changes in your diet as well as physical exercises that you do to reduce the pravastatin side effects. According to some research studies, people of about 1.7% have stopped using this drug due to its side effects. Here are some of the pravastatin side effects that are seen to those who are taking this medication.
1) Common Side effects: Majority of people who use Pravastatin reports that they suffer from nausea and vomiting. Hence these are the most common side effects that have been reported for this medication. It has been seen that around 4-5 % people taking this medication has headache, constipation, pain in chest etc.
2) Other associated side effects: There are other annoying features and side effects associated with this medicine. It has been very irritating and troublesome with stomach. They experience some gastrointestinal issues too while using this medications that includes burning heart, sensation, and flatulence. This medication also has some neurological and psychiatric side effects such as depression, anxiety, double vision etc. It also includes problems in sight and muscle pains as well as cramps. Some of the other pravastatin side effects in addition to these are frequent urination and coughing.
3) Other side effects while using this medication with other medicines: When you are taking this medicine along with other medicines, then you have to face several serious side effects too. There are specific medications that may cause frequent urination along with kidney damage. Using pravastatin along with nicotinic acid can cause muscle or liver problems.
As there are great means of damage involved, doctors should take precaution while prescribing this drug. In fact, doctors should not give these drugs to any pregnant women. Even though there are no studies regarding the use of drug in pregnant women but the drug causes malformation of muscles in pregnant animals. The drug should not be given to children below 18 years of age. In order to avoid any health old age people should undergo several tests before they are prescribed with pravastatin. Many of these side effects are minor and because of this it can be treated very easily.
